HOW DOES BETTY DESIGNS FIT?

In general, Betty Designs endurance (swim/bike/run) products are designed with a "race fit". This means garments are supposed to be worn tight to the body. We do not recommend customers go up a size as it will compromise the performance features. Race fit does not mean extra tight. It means it IS tight to the body, but not restrictive. This fit will yield the best performance out of each garment. We use fabrics that are non-binding + contain 4-way stretch for comfort. No matter your size, our cycling, triathlon + swimsuits are meant to fit tight. The more they hug your body, the less chance of chafing, flapping fabric, drag in our swimsuits + less chance of irritation from fabrics rubbing in the incorrect areas. Betty believes that a Race Fit looks good on every size body. Yes. We are serious about that. Try us on for size and see how it feels.

DOES BETTY DESIGNS RUN TRUE-TO-SIZE?

Cycling Apparel / Kits: Yes. Our cycling items fit true-to-size, but a tad on the slim side. If you you like a less compressive fit or are between sizes, go up a size. We recommend that bib shorts and all cycling shorts feel quite tight when on the body. Our durable, performance 4-way stretch Italian UPF+ fabrics are meant to be worn tight.You do not want any extra material as the leg bands can ride up or you might get chafing in the saddle area around the chamois. Cycling apparel runs the same as our triathlon and run apparel.


Triathlon Apparel: Yes. Our triathlon items fit true-to-size, but a tad on the slim side. If you you like a less compressive fit or are between sizes, go up a size. Our durable, performance 4-way stretch Italian UPF+ fabrics are meant to be worn tight. There should be no wrinkle or gapping when you pull on these items. The sport of triathlon demands a lot out of the garment as it gets wet in the swim and then dries. If you are swimming without a wetsuit or swimskin for the swim portion they definitely need to be worn tight to the body. Triathlon apparel runs the same as our cycling and run items. 

 

Running Apparel: Sports Bras, Run Shorts, and Tights: Yes. these items fit true-to-size, but a tad on the slim side. If you you like a less compressive fit or are between sizes, go up a size. Our Core, Garden Party, Hypnotic, and Boho run apparel is made of the softest, bushed Italian fabric with no compression or leg bands at the hem of the shorts. They double as great sets for the gym, Hyrox, Pilates, yoga and other studio classes. Pockets on the bottoms are large enough to hold your phone. These items run the same as our cycling and triathlon apparel sizing. 


Swimsuits: Our swimsuits run small. This being said, we suggest you go up a size from your cycle/tri size in our bikinis. One pieces are a bit more challenging. There are a lot of factors in how a one piece fits depending on your shape, but keep in mind the one piece swimsuits should be a little hard to get into and feel "really tight" out of the package. Not kidding! As you swim the thin straps will "give" a smidge and become more comfortable. If you pull on this suit easily and it gaps slightly at your collarbone area, it's too big! All of our swimsuits are made of a durable polyester Xtra Life Lycra blend lined for modesty. 


BDLab Sportswear: Our run items run true-to-size. This 21-piece capsule wardrobe is made to move with you taking nods from performance fabrics. We use recycled and Japanese fabrics with some stretch properties. Our cargo pant is built for comfort for long travel days. These garments were meticulously made in NYC and are made to pair with items you already have in your closet.

 

DOES BETTY DESIGNS OFFER A PERSONAL SIZE CONSULTATION? 

YES. Email Customer Experience at brandexperience@bettydesigns.com and provide us with the following information: Height, weight, bra size (ex, 34B), waist (inches), hips (inches), and thigh (inches).

 

IS BETTY DESIGSN A WOMAN-OWNED BRAND?

IS BETTY DESIGNS APPAREL DURABLE?

YES. We construct all of our endurance apparel made to withstand the sport it is engineered for. We use premium Italian fabrics with UPF sun protection, flexible stitching that moves with you to minimize chafing. Our cycling and triathlon chamois are women's specific designs for the upmost comfort when riding.

 

WHAT SPORTS IS BETTY DESIGNS APPAREL FOR?

Betty Designs makes performance apparel for women who run, ride bikes, race triathlon, hit the gym, participate in Hyrox and CrossFit along with yoga, barre, Pilates classes.

 

WHAT IS THE BEST WOMEN'S CYCLING KIT FOR LONG RIDES?

Betty Designs offers beautiful, bold, colorful cycling kit designs that have top-notch performance features such as Italian fabrics with UPF sun protection, non-binding leg hems, stretchy and comfortable mesh bib straps, flattering fit for all body types. WHAT MAKES BETTY DESIGNS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER CYCLING AND TRIATHLON WOMEN'S BRANDS?

Our number one difference is we are a design-led company. This means that our appearance is just as important as the performance features of the garments. We share the same level of standard as other brands in our construction and fabrics, but pride ourselves with the best design in the industry. Betty Designs was founded by a female designer who prides herself on designing bold, distinctive designs that stand out from the sea of plain, solid colored apparel or head-to-toe busy prints often found in other brands. Design is top-of-mind so that you stand out on the race course and feel like you are wearing something unique, bold, and beautiful.

 

HOW DO I PREVENT CHAFING WHILE CYCLING, RUNNING AND TRIATHLON?

The first step is to make sure you are wearing your correct size. Betty Designs performance garments should fit slim to the body so there is no extra fabric that might cause chafing. If yo are prone to chafing in specific areas you can add some chamois cream or anti-chafe cream to those areas.

 

ARE BETTY DESIGNS LEGGING COMPRESSIVE?

Most of our legging have very light compression. We do have a BDlab Tight and BDlab Capri that are circular knit with compression properties.

 

CAN I WEAR BETTY DESIGNS FOR ATHLEISURE?

YES. Our leggings, tees, sports bras, and sweats can be worn before and after training and racing and layered into looks for all of life's moments in between. Betty Designs BDlab Sportswear is a capsule wardrobe that was created to be an elevated statement ourside of sport— whether you are running errands, going to work or to dinner. These timeless pieces combine recycled fabrics and meticulous construction sewn in NYC.

 

HOW SHOULD I WASH MY BETTY DESIGNS GEAR?

Betty recommends you wash your garments in the washer or hand wash on gentle cycle on cold water and then hang to dry. Make sure you do not wash with any sharp objects, Velcro or clips that may damage the product.

 

HOW QUICKLY WILL MY BETTY DESIGNS ORDER SHIP?

For all in-stock items shipping within the USA we typically fulfill your order within 3-5 business days. We ship Monday—Friday via US Postal Service trackable mail. This means 4–8 business days for transit time from the day it leaves our warehouse. You will receive a shipping confirmation with tracking information once your order ships.

PLEASE NOTE: If you live in the United States and we are shipping to you via USPS sometimes the tracking can be off by a day or so. If you track your package and it says "delivered", but you don't have it in hand please be patient and give it another day or so. From our experience it typically arrives the next business day. Thank you! 

 

DOES BETTY DESIGN SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?

We use UPS Express for all international shipping. We found that other methods of international shipping that were less expensive yielded unreliable tracking and lost packages so this is a service that will insure your merchandise arrives to you in a timely manner (7-10 days depending on country). 

PLEASE NOTE: All international packages can potentially incur charges upon their arrival in the destination country and those charges are solely determined by the arrival countries customs authorities. We cannot predict the amount of duties and taxes you will be charged. If you have other questions regarding duties and taxes in your country, please contact your local customs office.

 

DOES BETTY DESIGNS ACCEPT RETURNS?

YES. We accept returns within 30 days as long as tags are still on the garments and they have not been warn to train or race in. Start a return here. 

 

CAN I GET ON A WAITLIST FOR AN OUT-OF-STOCK BETTY DESIGNS ITEM?

YES. Simply go to the product page and select the size you need in the drop down. The pink notification box will appear. Click it, provide us with your email address and you'll be notified just as soon as the item is back in stock. 

 

ARE BETTY DESIGNS PINK MAILERS ECO FRIENDLY? 

YES. Our poly bag mailers that make you smile the second you see it on your doorstep are printed with water based inks + are recyclable.

 

DOES BETTY DESIGNS OFFER CRASH REPLACEMENT FOR A TORN KIT?

YES. Unfortunately, crashes happen. If you crash + tear your favorite kit take a photo + send it to customer service at brandexperience@bettydesigns.com + request 50% off replacement items. Please note that if you ruin a discontinued design we can offer you a discount on the same silhouette in a different design. 

       

      DOES BETTY DESIGNS HAVE A WARRANTY PROGRAM FOR DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS?

      Betty stands behind all of her products. If you think a product has a workmanship or material flaw within 90 days of purchase, please email a photo to brandexperience@bettydesigns.com and we will take a look. Some things that do NOT fall under a manufacturer's defect involve:

      • Material pilling due to rubbing up against a saddle bag, race belt or Velcro

      • Material pilling due to contact with rough surfaces

      • Skin chafing is not due to a defect. If you are prone to chafing, we suggest using BodyGlide or a similar product to protect your skin while working out + racing

       

      I PURCHASED A BETTY DESIGNS ITEM AND IT WENT ON SALE TODAY, CAN I GET A REFUND ON THE DIFFERENCE?

      From time-to-time, Betty offers special discounts and puts select items on sale. We are sorry but we cannot offer retroactive discounts. 

       

      WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BETTY DESIGNS CYCLING AND TRIATHLON CHAMOIS?

      Our cycling chamois is slightly wider and thicker than our triathlon chamois. The cycle chamois has graduated thickness from 3mm in the front to 12mm in the back and is rated for riding up to 7+ hours. Our tri chamois has a graduated thickness from 6mm in the front to 3mm in the back for added comfort in the aero position. 2mm thickness throughout. Our triathlon chamois are rated for sprint to Ultra Ironman-distance races.
